The Chico State women’s track & field team sent a half-dozen pole vaulters to the Kim Duyst Invitational, and all six managed to post top 10 finishes during Saturday’s action at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium in Turlock. The ’Cat who cleared the bar with the team’s highest vertical score was junior Amy Bell, who not only posted an NCAA Provisional mark, but placed her name prominently in the Chico State record books. Bell’s impressive performance at the first full meet of the 2022 season makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Bell wasted little time earning consideration for the NCAA Track & Field Championships, scoring the Provisional mark while finishing second overall with a height of 3.79 meters (12-feet-05.25). That high-flying effort—the fifth-highest vault in the program’s history—put the transfer from Long Beach State squarely into Chico State’s all-time women’s pole vault Top 10.
Bell also finished 11th in the Kim Duyst Invitational’s javelin competition with a throw of 29.57 meters (97 feet)—her best as a Wildcat.
Bell and the Chico State track & field team will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Davis Saturday to compete in the Aggie Open, hosted by UC Davis.
