Forward Christine Vest, a senior from Winnetka, turned in her most consistent week of the season, averaging nine points and 8.7 rebounds in games against Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
Tuesday against Stanislaus, Vest recorded the second double-double of her
Chico State career, scoring a team-high 10 points and pulling down a
season-best 11 rebounds in the Wildcats’ 63-48 loss to the Warriors.
Vest posted another double-digit scoring performance Friday versus Cal State L.A., contributing 11 points to go along with six rebounds and a steal as
the ’Cats fell to the Golden Eagles 58-54.
She was also a big factor in getting the Wildcats back on the winning track Saturday against Cal State Dominguez Hills, scoring six points and hauling in a game-high nine rebounds in Chico State’s 85-34 shellacking of the Toros.
Vest, who moved into eighth place on Chico State’s all-time games played
list (103) over the weekend, is currently ranked in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Top 15 in rebounding (averaging 6.4 a game) and field goal percentage (41.9 percent), and is in the Top 30 in the conference in scoring with a 8.2 point nightly average. Vest is also approaching the Wildcats’ career Top 10 in rebounding (442 entering the
week) and free throws made (187).
