Jay Flores recorded the two highest scoring outputs of his career over the weekend, including 18 instrumental points during the Wildcats' thrilling comeback against Cal Poly Pomona Sunday, to earn Wildcat of the Week honors. Flores, whose previous career high was 12 points, averaged 19.5 during the weekend and scored a career-best 21Saturday against Cal State San Bernardino.
Flores shot 10-of-16 from the field, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range, and made all 12 of his free throw attempts on the weekend. He also had six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Flores finished Saturday's 85-74 loss to Cal State San Bernardino with 21 points, four rebounds, and a steal. He hit 5-of-9 shots, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and also knocked down all eight of his free throw attempts.
Sunday, Flores scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and overtime, burying 4-of-5 treys in teh process. His left baseline jumper with 1:39 remaining in the extra period gave Chico State its first lead of overtime, and he sank a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left to stretch the Wildcats' lead to three. They eventually won 72-70.
