Chico State defender Kylie Martinez assisted on the Wildcats' match-winning goal Thursday night and helped anchor a defense that allowed only 11 shots on goal in two wins last week, earning Wildcat of the Week honors in the process.

Martinez connected with Camille Lidster at the top of the six-yard box on a 52nd-minute corner kick and the freshman deposited it into the back of the net for the match-winning goal in Chico State's 1-0 win against Dominican University of California Thursday afternoon.

The junior from Livermore (Livermore High School) also played all 90 minutes as the Wildcats' right back, helping to limit Dominican to just three shots.

Martinez played a team-high 69 minutes at right back in Saturday's 4-0 win against Holy Names University and helped limit the Hawks to eight shots.

After being used off the bench for most of the past two seasons, Martinez has started all four matches for the Wildcats in 2019 and leads the team in minutes played.

Martinez's assist Thursday night was her first of the season and the third of her career.

Martinez and the Wildcats, winners of three straight and 3-1 on the season, are back in action Thursday when they host Azusa Pacific at 7 p.m.
