A four-year member of the Chico State women's track & field team, Claire Chappell knows there's no holding back in what will be her final season in a Wildcats uniform. The Northern California product established a personal best time in the 100-meter dash earlier this year, and at the Chico State Distance Carnival and Twilight Invitational, Chappell posted two more PR's while entering the Wildcat record books as part of the eighth-fastest 4x100-meter relay team in the program's history. Chappell's fleet-footed success at the Saturday home meet makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Chappell began the day by teaming with Isabella Moyer, Lyndsey Settle, and Jordyn Dorsey to win the Chico State Distance Carnival's 4x100-meter relay. The quartet's time of 47.59 seconds was enough to cement a place in the Wildcats' all-time top 10.
Â
Chappell proceeded to finish second in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 58.02 seconds—the sixth-fastest effort in the event among all California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) runners this season. Ninety minutes later she scored another PR in the 200-meter dash, stopping the clock at 25.48 seconds.
Â
Chappell concluded her productive day by combining with Settle, Savannah Bailey, and Sheena Blackwell to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:01.87.
Â
Chappell will be among several Wildcat women's track & field runners competing this weekend at the UC Davis-hosted Woody Wilson Classic.
