When Chico State softball head coach Angel Shamblin has needed some positive results in the pitcher's circle this season, Sam Mulock has provided the Wildcats with extremely reliable production. The junior lefthander has allowed just six runs all year, and against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Mulock threw nothing but goose eggs at the notoriously dangerous Toros lineup to help the No. 5 'Cats win three of four in Southern California. Mulock's mowing down of Dominguez Hills makes the San Diego product the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
In two relief appearances, Mulock allowed no runs on just three hits in nine-and-two-thirds innings of work, striking out nine and holding the Toros to a miniscule .094 batting average. The San Diego product walked just one batter and picked up the win in the final game of the series to raise her season record to 4-1.
Â
In Friday's series-opening doubleheader, Mulock tossed two-and-two-thirds innings of scoreless relief, then followed up in Saturday's series finale with seven innings of shutout ball, retiring 21 of the 23 Toros batters she faced, including 12 in a row between the second and sixth innings in the Wildcats' 11-1 victory.
Â
Mulock currently ranks third among all CCAA pitchers with a 1.18 earned run average, and her 26 strikeouts has already matched her total from last season.

Mulock and the Wildcats take on No. 13 UC San Diego in a battle for first place in the CCAA this Sunday and Monday at University Softball Field.
