Sheena Blackwell is one of several talented runners competing for the Chico State women's track & field team, excelling in both sprint and hurdle events. And if the Wildcat Invitational is any indication, the Santa Rosa product is literally unbeatable when asked to cover 400 meters.
Blackwell took top honors in the 400-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles, and was part of the meet's winning 4x400-meter relay squad, making her the runaway choice for Wildcat of the Week.
Blackwell began her productive day at University Stadium with a winning time of 1:00.24 in the 400-meter dash, and followed it with a first place effort in the 400-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 1:05.07.
She finished the meet by combining with Wildcat teammates Claire Chappell, Sydney Proiette, and Savannah Bailey to triumph in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:10.75.
Blackwell currently owns the sixth-fastest time among CCAA runners in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.07), and is ninth in the conference in the 400-meter dash (a personal-best 1:00.24). She has finished first in every individual 400-meter event she's entered so far in the 2019 season.
Blackwell and the rest of the Chico State women's track & field team will be in the state capital this Friday and Saturday, competing in the Sacramento State-hosted Hornet Invitational.
