Kristin Worley has been a fixture at the top of the Chico State softball batting order since her Wildcats debut back in 2017, and for good reason: in less than two-and-a-half seasons the Buena Park product has batted .373, and already ranks second in program history in runs scored (109) and third in stolen bases (79). She literally could not be kept off the basepaths against Cal State San Marcos, and her huge contributions to the 'Cats' rain-shortened series sweep of the Cougars makes Worley the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Worley batted .667 (4-for-6) with two doubles, two walks, four runs scored and three stolen bases against San Marcos, posting a .750 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage to help the No. 8 Wildcats improve to 14-3 on the season and 12-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Â
In game one of the series' lone doubleheader, Worley produced a pair of hits, scored twice, stole a base and knocked in a run in Chico State's 11-3 win over San Marcos. She then went 2-for-3 in the nightcap, reaching base three times, scoring twice and stealing two bases as the Wildcats shaded the Cougars 3-2.
Â
The two-time First Team All-CCAA and All-West Region selection is currently second in the CCAA in runs scored (16), fourth in stolen bases (10), and 10th in hits (20).
Â
Worley and the Wildcats return home this Friday and Saturday to take Cal State San Bernardino in a big four-game series at University Softball Field.
