Brittany O'Bryant has been one of the Chico State women's golf team's most consistent performers. The Elk Grove product owned the 'Cats' lowest average score last season (79.8 strokes a round), and in her first three years racked up 10 top 20 tournament finishes, including four top 10's. O'Bryant has gotten her senior season off to a terrific start, as evidenced by her 11th place showing at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate. Her team-best effort makes O'Bryant the latest Wildcat of the Week.
O'Bryant was brilliant in her two rounds at The Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona, firing a 2-over par 146 to earn a share of 11th place in the 97-player field. Her performance contributed greatly to Chico State finishing 11th on the team leaderboard.
On Monday's opening round, O'Bryant collected five birdies on the way to an even-par 72, matching her career-best round. O'Bryant connected for birdies on three of her first six holes, and was 2-under par over an 11-hole stretch to finish the day in a tie for fifth place, just one stroke behind the tournament leaders.
O'Bryant double-bogeyed her first hole during Tuesday's final round, but rebounded to play even par the rest of the way to register a 2-over par 74. Her 36-hole total of 146 was the lowest two-round tournament score of O'Bryant's Chico State career, and her highest individual finish since placing eighth in last February's Mikuni Sushi Shootout.
She also led the Wildcats to a final round 305—the program's lowest single round team score in nearly two years.
