Bekah Boyle proved last season that she could provide the Chico State volleyball team with consistent offensive production by leading the Wildcats in kills and ranking second in total points. The junior outside hitter is once again showcasing her offensive prowess in 2018, and has California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opponents desperately scrambling for ways to stop her. Boyle turned in another pair of outstanding performances over the weekend, making her the "killer" choice for Wildcat of the Week.
In home matches against San Francisco State and Cal State East Bay, Boyle racked up a combined 32 kills on 76 swings, resulting in an impressive .355 hitting percentage. The Redding native also added 25 digs on the defensive end, helping the Wildcats improve to 10-4 on the season.
Friday against San Francisco State, Boyle led all players with 20 kills and contributed 16 digs as Chico State took a five-set thriller from the Gators. She added a team-high 12 kills and nine digs Saturday against Cal State East Bay, extending her streak of double-digit kills to five straight matches.
Boyle is currently second among all CCAA hitters with 177 kills on the season, and ranks sixth in the conference in kills per set (3.47). She ranks ninth in conference play with a team-high hitting percentage of .321.
Boyle and the Chico State volleyball team are on the road for three matches this week. The Wildcats took on San Francisco State Tuesday and have weekend tilts Friday against Humboldt State and Saturday vs. Sonoma State.
