Last May, Chico State second baseman Karli Skowrup hit a robust .500 during the NCAA Softball West Regionals. Her postseason performance served as a mere teaser for what she has already accomplished during the first 13 games of the 2018 campaign. Skowrup engaged in some big-time fence-busting last weekend, belting two home runs and driving in five to help lead the Wildcats to a four-game series sweep of Cal State San Marcos. Her big flies, combined with flawless fielding on the right side of the infield, makes Skowrup the choice for Wildcat of the Week.
 
Skowrup had three hits in the series and recorded a .692 slugging percentage to help the Wildcats sweep the four-game set with the Cougars, improve to 13-0 on the season and stay atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a perfect 8-0 record.
 
In game two of Friday's series-opening doubleheader, Skowrup provided the big blow by lining a two-run homer over the left field fence in the Wildcats' 4-0 victory over San Marcos. She capped off a six-run fourth inning in Saturday's series finale with a majestic three-run bomb to left, as the 'Cats completed the sweep with a 7-1 win.
 
Skowrup is batting .325 on the season, and in just 13 games has already set new career highs with four home runs and 17 runs batted in. She is tied for the CCAA lead in RBI.
 
Skowrup and the Wildcats are home this weekend to take on Cal State East Bay in a four-game series, with doubleheaders scheduled Friday at noon and Saturday at 11 a.m.
