Relief pitcher Dan Beavers chewed up the competition at last season's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament, helping lead the Chico State baseball team win the title. He's right back at it in 2018.

Beavers saved both of the Wildcats' wins over the weekend, striking out four while allowing just one hitter to reach (on a strike-three wild pitch) to earn Wildcat of the Week accolades.

The senior from Los Osos nailed down Chico State's 3-1 win in the second game of the series with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out three in the process. Saturday, in the series finale, Beavers began the ninth with a one-run lead and got a fly-out, groundout, and strikeout to seal the deal.

In Chico State's last eight victories, dating back to the start of the 2017 postseason, Beavers has four saves and a win. In those five innings of work, he has allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out six.

Beavers and the Wildcats open CCAA play this weekend with a four-game series against Stanislaus State. They play single games in Turlock on Friday and Saturday before returning to Chico for a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m.
