Whether the Chico State women's basketball team is thriving or in the middle of a losing streak, at least one thing remains constant: McKena Barker will always provide something of value every time she steps on the court. The junior forward once again put her talents on display during the 'Cats' Southern California road trip, and her outstanding production makes Barker the latest Wildcat of the Week.Â
Â
Barker averaged 14 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA, while contributing a pair of assists and a blocked shot to her weekend totals. The Chico native shot 55.6 percent from the field (10-for-18), knocked down her first two 3-pointers of the season, and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Â
Friday against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Barker scored 15 points and hauled in seven rebounds, then followed up Saturday with a 13-point, 6-rebound performance versus Cal State LA.
Â
Barker ranks third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.7 points a game, and leads the Wildcats in rebounding, averaging 5.9 boards a night.
Â
Barker and the Chico State women's basketball team returns to Acker Gym this week for a pair of important California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups. The Wildcats will host Cal State Monterey Bay Thursday and Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
