Just 10 games into the Chico State women's basketball team's 2017–18 season, Madison Wong has been a major contributor in a wide variety of ways. Whether it's knocking down a clutch 3-pointer, distributing the ball to teammates for easy buckets, grabbing a big rebound or coming up with a timely steal, Wong always seems to be in the middle of the action when the 'Cats need a spark.
Wong delivered yet another all-around performance in Tuesday's 87-67 win over Simpson University, earning the Elk Grove product Wildcat of the Week honors.
Wong scored 11 points against the Red Hawks, connecting on three of five field goal attempts—all from 3-point range—while leading the Wildcats with six rebounds and six assists to help Chico State to the 20-point victory and the team's most lopsided win since their home opener November 18 against Holy Names.
Wong is averaging 5.8 points a game and ranks third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in assists, averaging 5.4 a game.
Wong and the Wildcats return from their holiday break Friday, December 29 when they host Cal State LA at 5:30 p.m. in Acker Gym, followed by a 2:30 p.m. New Years Eve matinee Sunday the 31st versus Cal State Dominguez Hills. Â
