On a night in which Isaiah Ellis became just the fifth player in the men's basketball program's history to eclipse career totals of more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds, he once again proved his worth in every facet of the game.
Ellis finished with 10 points, a season-high 12 rebounds, matched his career high with five assists, and added a blocked shot and two steals, to lead the Wildcats to a 62–56 victory over San Francisco State Saturday night.
Ellis' seventh rebound of the night was the 500th of his career. He's just the 13th Wildcat to reach that milestone.
The senior now ranks sixth in program history in blocked shots, 12th in rebounding, 12th in steals, and 16th in scoring. This season, he's second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in field-goal percentage, sixth in steals, eighth in blocked shots, 11th in rebounding, and 14th in scoring.
But there is no single stat to capture what Ellis does best of all—defend. Ellis' defense, both on the ball and off, helped the Wildcats hold San Francisco State 27 points below its season scoring average.
Ellis and the Wildcats continue their quest for their fourth CCAA title in seven seasons, and the third during Ellis' tenure, Saturday night on the road at Cal State East Bay. They enter the week in second place, percentage points behind leader Cal Poly Pomona.
