Men's soccer midfielder Fabian Roman tallied two match-winning goals to lead the Wildcats to a pair of home victories this weekend and earn Wildcat of the Week honors. The junior from Panorama City scored in the 80th minute in a thrilling 1–0 victory over previously unbeaten San Francisco State Friday Roman did the damage early Wednesday against Stanislaus State, finding the back of the net just 7:19 into a 2–0 victory.
Roman also helped Chico State's defense post a pair of shutouts, extending their streak to four.
Jeremiah Egujie and Eruvey Arceta set things in motion for Roman with a pass out wide and then a cross toward the far post for Friday's winning goal. At just 5-feet-10, Roman rose up and over the defense to re-direct the ball inside the post.
His goal Wednesday night was nearly identical: a cross to the far post that he headed home inside the post, assisted by Dylan Wakefield and Carter Johnson.
Roman finished the weekend with four shots, three of which were on goal, and two that arrived in the back of the net.
Now 6-2-0 overall and atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association table at 4-0-0 in conference action, the Wildcats will hit the road (where they've won six in a row) next weekend for matchups with Humboldt State Friday at 3 p.m. and Sonoma State Sunday at 2 p.m.
