Sadie Gastelum's performance at the NCAA Track & Field Championships not only resulted in two All-America honors, but served as a fitting capper to a decorated running career at Chico State. The senior from Gardnerville, Nevada made her final days as a Wildcat truly memorable, scoring First Team All-America honors in the 10,000-meter run and Second Team All-America accolades in the 5,000-meter run. Gastelum's outstanding efforts on the national stage make her the final Wildcat of the Week for the 2016-17 academic year.

Gastelum reached the awards podium on the first day of the NCAA Track & Field Championships, finishing as the runner-up in the 10k with a time of 34:48.37. The eight team points she earned in the event helped Chico State achieve the highest final season national ranking (seventh) in the program's history.

Gastelum's final race as a Wildcat came in the national meet's final day, when she recorded a 10th place finish in the 5k. She stopped the clock at 16:45.88, establishing a personal best time that goes down in the record books as the eighth fastest by a Chico State women's track & field runner.

The two All-America awards at the NCAA Track & Field Championships served as the perfect conclusion to Gastelum's sparkling Chico State career, which also includes two All-America cross country honors, the 2017 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) 10k championship, six All-CCAA honors and four All-West Region selections.  Â
