Brooke Whitburn has already established herself as a major part of the Chico State women's track & field team, but with each new week she continues to add to her impressive list of accomplishments in 2017. The Chico native racked up several outstanding marks at the Chico Distance Carnival and Twilight Invitational, highlighted by a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles that cracked the 'Cats' all-time top 10 list. Whitburn's productive weekend at University Stadium makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
After posting the top qualifying time (14.67 seconds) in Saturday's 100-meter hurdle preliminaries, Whitburn took top honors in the finals—her PR time of 14.56 seconds as the seventh-fastest performance in the event in Wildcat history.
Â
Whitburn also finished second in both the high jump (5-feet-05) and javelin (a season-best heave of 126-feet-08), while placing fifth in the shot put (38-feet-07.50). As if that weren't enough, she teamed with Michelle Holt, Bianca Nicastro and Hailey Jackson to finish third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:06.72.
Â
So far this season, Whitburn has notched an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the heptathlon and a provisional mark in the long jump while posting new personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump and shot put.

Whitburn, along with several other members of the Chico State women's track & field team, will be heading to Southern California this weekend to compete Saturday in the Long Beach Invitational.
