Though Sammy DeHart missed the first nine games of the season and played sparingly in the first few contests upon her return, the sophomore forward has proven invaluable to the fortunes of the  Chico State women's basketball team in 2016-17. DeHart has come off the bench to score at least eight points and grab six rebounds four times this season, and her career-high 14-point performance against Cal State San Marcos was easily her best yet. DeHart's heroics on the hardwood makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.

The Nevada City product connected on five of her 12 field goal attempts, was 4-for-4 from the free throw line, hauled in six rebounds and added a block and an assist to the Wildcat attack, and her contribution nearly helped the 'Cats notch their 15th victory of the season. It wasn't quite enough, however, as Chico State fell to the visiting Cougars 77-65 in overtime.

DeHart is averaging 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds a game on the season, but in her last five games she is scoring at an 8.4 points per game clip.

DeHart and the Wildcats play a home-and-home series this week against Stanislaus State. Chico State travels to Turlock Thursday before hosting the Warriors Saturday at Acker Gym.    Â
