Chico State senior guard Robert Duncan remained red hot over the weekend, averaging 25 points per game on 70-percent shooting, to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
Duncan also grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game as the Wildcats split a road trip to Humboldt State and Cal Poly Pomona and came home in a tie for first place atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings.
Duncan finished with 28 points, nine rebounds, two steals, an assist, and a blocked shot in the Wildcats' 100–83 with at Humboldt State Thursday night. He connected on 9-of-10 shots from the field, including his lone 3-pointer, and made 9-of-10 free throws.
Saturday, in a 63-60 loss at Cal Poly Pomona, Duncan scored 16 second-half points as the Wildcats cut a 14-point deficit to one. But they couldn't complete the comeback and saw their 10-game win streak come to an end.
Duncan finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with six rebounds, an assist, and a steal. He hit 7-of-13 shots from the field, 1-of-2 from 3-point range, and made all seven of his free throw attempts.
Over his past eight games, Duncan–the reigning CCAA Player of the Year–is averaging 19 points on 64-percenting shooting, including 47 percent from 3-point range.
He and the Wildcats host Cal State San Bernardino Friday and UC San Diego Saturday at Acker Gym. Tipoff each night is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
