Wildcat of the Week Corey Silverstrom scored 23.5 points per game and hit 10 3-pointers to lead the Chico State men's basketball team to a pair of wins and earn Most Valuable Player honors at the 57th Carl's Jr. Mac Martin Invitational over the weekend in Acker Gym.

Silverstrom sank five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 24 points in the Wildcats' 83-55 win against Academy of Art Friday. The junior from Fresno also chipped in five rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Saturday, in Chico State's 79-68 win against Northwest Nazarene, Silverstrom scored 23 points and buried five more 3-pointers. He also contributed four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

For the weekend, Silverstrom nailed 10-of-20 from long distance and 15-of-31 shots overall. He was 7-for-8 from the free throw line, and added 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and a steal per game.

He is now just nine 3-pointers shy of becoming the 14th player in the history of the program to total 100 in his career.

Silverstrom and the 19th-ranked Wildcats are now 5-1 heading into a week in which they'll face Simpson University (Monday), nationally-ranked UC San Diego (Thursday), and Cal State San Marcos (Saturday).
