Chico State sophomore Cameron Santos hit .500 with two doubles, a triple, six runs scored, three RBI and a stolen base to help lead the Wildcats to a three-game season-opening sweep of Menlo College this weekend in Chico and earn Wildcat of the Week honors.

Santos, the team's starting third baseman, slugged .833 and boasted an on-base percentage of .571.

He was nearly unstoppable during the Wildcats' doubleheader sweep Sunday.  Santos reached base in all six of his plate appearances in the opener, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, four runs scored and two RBI. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch in the Wildcats' come-from-behind win.

Santos played a huge role in the Wildcats' comeback from six runs down, hitting an RBI double to start a two-run seventh, getting on via hit batsmen and scoring during a four-run eighth, and then starting the game-winning rally in the bottom of the 10th with a leadoff single against Menlo's Lucas Ercig – Baseball America's 77th-ranked college draft prospect – before scoring the winning run.

Santos went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple and two runs scored in the nightcap. He singled in the first, marking the seventh straight plate appearance in which he reached base, and scored the game's first run.

Santos and the Wildcats host Point Loma for a three-game series this weekend beginning with a single game Friday at 2 p.m. and concluding with a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m.
