Robert Duncan rode the bench in 2013-14, playing in just nine games and scoring just 12 points. Less than two years later, our Wildcat of the Week is riding high as one of the most explosive players in Division II basketball.
The junior guard's spurtability was on full display during Thursday's 86-68 win in Arcata against rival Humboldt State. Duncan scored all of his game-high 22 points during a 13-minute stretch as the Wildcats extended a 1-point lead to 14.
From the 6:48 mark of the first half to the 13:41 mark of the second, Duncan nearly outscored the Lumberjacks by himself as Chico State used a 37-24 run to take control of the game.
Duncan also grabbed five rebounds and three steals and dished out an assist in the game.
Saturday night, in a 69-56 loss at Cal Poly Pomona, Duncan led the Wildcats with 18 points and pulled down five more rebounds.
The Granite Bay product currently ranks among the California Collegiate Athletic Association's top 10 in scoring (6th-15.9 ppg), rebounding (9th-5.9), field-goal percentage (6th-.497), 3-point field-goal percentage (4th-.474), assists (3rd-4.1), assist-to-turnover ratio (5th-1.7), and steals (T2nd-2.0).
Duncan and the Wildcats are back in action at home this weekend for 7:30 contests against San Francisco State Friday and Sonoma State Saturday.
