Cassi Scroggins sprinted up the right flank of the field a full 50 yards, deflected an attempted clearance by a San Francisco State defender, and then raced toward the ball spinning near the top corner of the box. Scroggins arrived at the same time at the Gators' goalkeeper, sliding to kick the ball just as they collided.
 
She did it all with the Wildcats leading 3-0 with less than two minutes to play.
 
It was the kind of effort that sets Scroggins apart – not just on the pitch, but in the classroom as well.
 
This week's Wildcat of the Week, Scroggins helps anchor the Chico State defense that allowed only one goal over the weekend as the Wildcats won twice to secure a second-place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and first-round CCAA Championship Tournament bye. Chico State's 3-0 shutout on Saturday marked the team's ninth in 18 matches.
 
Scroggins was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team Thursday for her combined performance athletically and in the classroom.
 
Scroggins will start her 70^th consecutive match for the Wildcats Friday at 11 a.m. in the CCAA Championship Tournament semifinals.
