As if California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) pitchers didn't have enough to worry about when facing the potent Chico State offense, a new weapon has suddenly emerged in the heart of the Wildcat lineup. Brynn Lesovsky has been swinging a productive bat for well over a month, and her contributions last weekend vs. Cal State Monterey Bay were a big factor in the 'Cats taking three of four from the No. 3-ranked Otters. Lesovsky's prowess at the plate makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Lesovsky batted .364 (4-for-11) in the series, hitting safely in all four contests to extend her current hitting streak to a career-best 10 straight games. The junior from Simi Valley smacked a pair of doubles and drove in two runs while posting a .545 slugging percentage and .417 on-base percentage.
Â
In Friday's series opener, Lesovsky's two-run double gave Chico State the early lead in a game the 'Cats eventually won 6-3. In the nightcap, she picked up a base hit and donned the catcher's gear to team with pitcher Haley Gilham on a four-hit shutout as the Wildcats blanked the Otters 3-0.
Â
Lesovsky went 1-for-3 in the first game of Saturday's twinbill, then in the nightcap doubled and again was on the receiving end of a Gilham three-hitter as Chico State won 2-0 to take the series. Â
Â
Lesovsky is currently ranked among the CCAA's top 15 hitters with a .382 batting average. Since starting the season 2-for-10, she is hitting .422 (19-for-45) with seven extra-base hits and 12 runs batted in.
Â
Lesovsky and the Wildcats are back in action this weekend, competing with over two dozen West Region teams in the three-day Tournament of Champions at Pedretti Park in Turlock.
