Jordan Semple stacks his double-doubles animal style, spiced up with enough ingredients to completely fill up a stat sheet. The Chico State men's basketball team, on a nine-game win streak, may be in the midst of building a special season around its sensational senior – this week's Wildcat of the Week.
Semple leads the Wildcats in rebounding, assists and blocked shots and ranks second in points and steals. He leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association in blocks and rebounds per game and ranks among the top 20 in scoring, assists and steals.
He averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two blocked shots per game as the Wildcats twice won this weekend with first place on the line to vault into sole possession of the conference lead.
Semple racked up his third double-double in four games, fifth of the season, and 20th of his career in the Wildcats' 72-64 victory over UC San Diego Friday night. He finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, three blocked shots, two assists and a steal.
He stuffed the stat sheet once again in Saturday's 60-52 win against conference co-leader Cal Poly Pomona, amassing eight points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot.
The Wildcats rank fourth nationally in scoring defense and Semple is the catalyst of that crew, often taking on the opponents' best offensive weapon. So far it's been a recipe for success.
