When the game is on the line, the Chico State men's basketball team wants to see Mike Rosaroso at the line. The senior point guard – and Wildcat of the Week – has made a habit out of hitting big free throws for the Wildcats this season. He did it again to help lead the Wildcats to wins against Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills this weekend.
Rosaroso was 7-for-8 from the line while averaging nine points, two assists, two rebounds and two steals per game as the Wildcats extending their winning streak to seven games and held onto a share of first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings with just eight games to go.
Rosaroso is shooting 81.7% from the line this season – seventh in the CCAA – and he's been even better under pressure. In the final five minutes of games and overtime, he's 38-for-44 (86.4 percent).
Friday he hit two pressure-packed free throws with three seconds left to seal the Wildcats' 64-59 win against Cal State L.A. Rosaroso also hit a pair of 3-pointers in the game and committed only one turnover in 26 minutes of leading the offense.
Saturday Rosaroso finished with 10 points, three assists and a career-high three steals in the Wildcats' 67-57 win against Cal State Dominguez Hills. He tied the game with a pair of free throws with 6:23 to play and then made 3-of-4 from the line in the final minute to help seal the deal.
Rosaroso and the Wildcats, 14-5 overall and 11-3 in the CCAA, host UC San Diego and Cal Poly Pomona this weekend. Both games are scheduled to tipoff at 7:30.
