Even though he's a freshman, Isaiah Ellis is already adept at taking advantage of his opportunities. The Chico State forward was fabulous this weekend, piling up 19 points and 14 rebounds in 35 minutes as the Wildcats swept San Francisco State and Sonoma State at home.
The Wildcat of the Week, scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in 16 minutes during Friday's 61-59 triple-overtime thriller against San Francisco State. The 6-foot-8 forward had four points and four rebounds in the second half and then hit two crucial free throws with 1:49 left in the third overtime to give Chico State the lead.
San Francisco State would tie the game moments later, but Robert Duncan hit a game-winning jumper with 1.3 seconds left.
Saturday Ellis was even better, however. He scored 13 points (one shy of his career high) while setting new career-bests with nine rebounds and two assists. He also took two charges of the defensive end.
Ellis had seven points, three rebounds and a steal during the decisive 13-0 second-half run that gave Chico State the lead for good.
He's averaging 16.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per 40 minutes of action and ranks second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association with 6.1 offensive rebounds per 40 minutes.
