Tanner Giddings seems to be getting his bearings, and that's a development that could bear big dividends for the Chico State men's basketball team as it enters the heart of its conference campaign. Giddings, our Wildcat of the Week, helped anchor Chico State's defense in a 51-50 win at Cal Poly Pomona Friday night and then scored a career-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and two blocked shots Saturday.
Â
Giddings scored nine points against Cal Poly Pomona, but he really shined on the defensive end, culminating in his denial of Broncos leading scorer Terrance Drisdom's game-winning attempt.
Â
The junior transfer from Fresno State has started all 11 games this season for the Wildcats, now 7-4 overall and in a five-way tie for second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association at 4-2. He ranks second on the team in rebounding and blocked shots and fifth in scoring, steals and minutes played.
Â
Giddings and the Wildcats have played five of their first six conference games on the road. But they return home Friday to begin a four-game homestand against rival Humboldt State at 7:30.
