Chico State junior Matt Hurlow reached double figures in career goals this week, scoring twice to lift the Wildcats to a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory at Humboldt State Friday, to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
Â
Hurlow, who leads the Wildcats with four goals and nine points, now has 11 goals and four assists over the course of his career. Six of those strikes have been game winners, including his second on Friday.
Â
The pride of Escondido High School scored in the 20th minute and then netted the golden goal on a penalty kick 3:36 into overtime to knock the Lumberjacks from atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings.
Â
Hurlow headed in Sean Gallagher's long throw-in 19:40 into the match, beating Humboldt State goalkeeper Javier Torres to his right, to stake the Wildcats to a 1-0 lead.
Â
He finished the match by hitting a low liner to the Humboldt State goalkeeper's to right side, setting off a wild Chico State celebration.
