To post a career-best round and notch a top 10 tournament finish are two accomplishments pretty much all golfers aspire to. When you're setting a new school record in the process, that takes you into more of a "dream come true" scenario. That's exactly what Chico State women's golfer Dani O'Keefe experienced during the GolfWeek Division II Fall Invitational in Sunriver, Ore., firing the program's lowest-ever three-round score and finishing third overall on the individual leaderboard. Her dazzling play on the links makes O'Keefe the latest Wildcat of the Week.
 
The junior from Santa Maria recorded a 54-hole score of 1-over par 214 at Sunriver Resorts' Meadows Golf Course, leading the Wildcats to a sixth place tournament finish. O'Keefe got things started with a bang Saturday, collecting five birdies en route to an opening-round 71, then followed up on the day's second 18 holes with a 3-over 74.
 
O'Keefe saved her most consistent round for last – on Sunday she mixed in three birdies with 14 pars to post a career-best 2-under par 69, moving her into third place overall and matching her highest-ever tournament finish as a Wildcat.
 
Thanks to her outstanding weekend, O'Keefe now has seven top 10 tournament finishes as a Wildcat and lowered her career average to 79.35 strokes per round.
 
O'Keefe and the rest of the Chico State women's golf team returns to action Oct. 21-22 in its final tournament of the fall. The Wildcats travel to Rohnert Park to compete in the Sonoma State NCAA West Regional Preview, taking place at Foxtail Golf Course.
