Foul trouble proved to be no trouble at all for the Chico State men's basketball team Saturday night thanks to a first-rate fill-in job by Wildcat of the Week Mike Rosaroso,
Starting point guard Giordano Estrada logged just 23 minutes due to three quick fouls. But the Wildcats didn't miss a beat with Rosaroso running the show.
The junior point guard contributed six points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes of action during Chico State's impressive 88-67 win against Cal State Stanislaus. The Wildcats outscored the Warriors 39-26 while Rosaroso was running the point.
Chico State's lead was 23-17 when Estrada picked up his second foul with seven minutes left in the first half. Rosaroso came in and promptly knocked down a 3-pointer. During those final seven minutes before intermission, with Rosaroso running the offense, the Wildcats stretched the lead to 36-26.
The advantage was back down to four when Rosaroso re-entered the game early in the second stanza, and by the time he returned to the bench, the Wildcats were in complete control.
The junior guard from Sacramento sank his second triple just seconds after checking in, and minutes later, collected a steal and dished out two dimes to key a 10-3 run that pushed the lead back to double-digits.
The lead was never threatened after that.
Rosaroso has been rolling over the past three games. He's hit 4-of-10 threes while logging four assists, two steals and only one turnover in 44 minutes of action during that span.
