Chico State Athletics

Being a Chico native, Heather Fegley has years of experience playing the various local and area courses. Her familiarity with Canyon Oaks Country Club came in particularly handy at the Chico State InterWest Invitational, as Fegley turned in a personal best performance during the 36-hole event to help the Wildcat women’s golf team win the tournament championship. Fegley’s leadership on the links has made her the latest Wildcat of the Week recipient.    

Fegley was one of three Chico State golfers to finish in the top eight on the InterWest Invitational leaderboard, with her total of 7-over par 151 (her best-ever two-round score) good for a share of third place overall – her highest tournament finish as a collegiate. Fegley finished with a flourish, firing her lowest single round score as a Wildcat (even par 72) on the final 18 holes, as the ’Cats rolled to a 14-stroke victory – the program’s first tournament win since April, 2008.

The InterWest Invitational marked Fegley’s first top 10 finish of the 2012-13 campaign and second of her Chico State career. Fegley has posted seven sub-80 rounds on the season and is averaging 79.9 strokes per round in her seven tournament appearances.

Fegley and the Chico State women’s golf team will be in Arizona April 1-2 to compete in the Grand Canyon Invitational at The Wigwam Country Club in Litchfield Park.
