Statistically, Synchro Bull has been relatively quiet this season, but there’s good reason last year’s All-CCAA and All-West Region selection hasn’t put up the huge numbers Chico State women’s basketball fans are accustomed to. The Wildcats have slowly been building up her minutes after a serious knee injury sidelined her at the end of the 2011-12 season, but as she demonstrated last weekend, the senior guard is once again a vital part of the ’Cats’ player rotation. Bull was on the court longer that she had been all season, delivering two solid performances that have earned her Wildcat of the Week honors.
Bull logged a combined 47 minutes down in southern California, contributing 22 points on 67 percent shooting, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists as Chico State split its games with UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernardino to maintain sole possession of first place in the CCAA standings.
Friday against UC San Diego, Bull scored season-high 13 points, hitting 4-of-6 from the field as well as posting three rebounds and three assists in the Wildcats’ 71-65 loss to the Tritons. Chico State bounced back Saturday versus Cal State San Bernardino, and Bull was again a big factor, scoring nine points and hauling in five rebounds while adding an assist and blocked shot as the ’Cats downed the Coyotes 62-56.
Bull, averaging 6.6 points a game so far this season, also etched her name into the Chico State record books over the weekend – with 231 assists, she is now ranked 10th on the Wildcats’ career assists list.
Chico State takes its 11-1 record back to southern California this weekend, taking on Cal State L.A. Friday at the Eagles’ Nest and Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday at the Torodome.
