Sean Park powers his way into the lane with the dribble, plants two feet in the paint, coils, leaps, and then rises… rises… and rises before flicking a jumper through the net. It’s a scene that’s played out over and over during his three seasons on the Chico State men’s basketball team. Park did it a number of times Friday night on the way to a team-high 17 points versus Cal State Stanislaus to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
Park poured in 6-of-11 shots, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc on the way to his season-high point total. He also pulled down six rebounds and grabbed a steal in his 27 minutes of action.
The CCAA All-Academic award-winning junior from Goleta is closing in on 700 career points and on pace to become just the 13th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau sometime next season. He also has a solid chance of reaching 500 career rebounds, which would make him just the third player in school history with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
Park will march on when he and the Wildcats host Simpson University Friday night at 7 p.m.
