No one can accuse Chico State women’s track & field runner Stephanie Consiglio of not going out in style. The fifth-year senior from Oceanside delivered a personal best performance in the 1,500-meter run during Saturday’s Willamette West Coast Invitational, notching an NCAA provisional mark with one of the top times in the event in Chico State history. Her outstanding effort in the last regular season meet of 2012 has earned Consiglio a well-deserved Wildcat of the Week award.
Consiglio logged a fifth place time of 4:31.59 Saturday at Charles Bowles Track in Salem, Ore. The run was not only her all-time best, but also the fourth fastest 1,500 ever by a Wildcat and the 27th best in the nation this season.
Consiglio wraps up her Chico State career with three All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) honors, as well as All-West Region recognition in cross country. In addition to her top 10 mark in the 1,500, Consiglio owns the sixth fastest time in the 5,000-meter run (17:03.65) in Chico State history.
