Freshman Jordan Semple is starting to make his jump to collegiate basketball look, well, easy. Semple has come off the bench to score 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting over the Wildcats’ last two games. He also contributed 13 rebounds, three assists and a steal while shooting 9-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
The 6-foot-6 Arcata High School product collected his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes during the Wildcats’ 79-77 overtime loss at Cal State Stanislaus last Wednesday. He needed just 16 minutes to post 13 more points in Saturday’s 82-59 win at Simpson while shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and chipping in three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
For the season, Semple leads the team in points (21.5) and rebounds (11.6) per 40 minutes of action. He’s also collecting 1.5 blocked shots and 2.2 steals per 40 minutes.
