People from Boise love to remind you that there is no ‘Z’ in Boise. Well, there’s no ‘I’ in Crim either. Boise, Id., product Tyson Crim, a junior midfielder on the Chico State men’s soccer team, dished out two more assists over the weekend to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
Crim, which would be spelled Crwem if my theory held water, is the program’s active leader with 12 assists, including four this season. Friday, he connected with Nick Tedrow for a double-assist on Adam Black’s game-winning goal in the 51st minute of a 2-1 win at Humboldt State. Sunday, Crim connected with Chris Akwaja for the game winner in the 81st minute as the Wildcats beat Sonoma State 1-0 to clinch the top seed in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament.
Crim, who started both matches, is one of just three Wildcats to start all 18 this season. He’s been on the field for kickoff in 39 of the team’s 40 matches over the past two seasons, a span in which they’ve gone 27-10-3 and claimed consecutive CCAA North Division titles.
He’ll help lead the Wildcats into the postseason this Friday when they open CCAA Championship Tournament action against Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday at 4:30 p.m.
