Chico State men’s golfer Eric Frazzetta is out to show the world that last season’s All-America recognition was no fluke. The native of Long Beach got his senior campaign off to an impressive start Oct. 3-4 at the Grand Canyon Invitational, finishing in a tie for seventh place and helping the No. 3 Wildcats win its season-opening tournament over a talented 20-team field. Frazzetta’s command of the course makes him the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Frazzetta started strong Oct. 3, firing a 2-under par 70 at Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield, Ariz. He finished the day’s second 18 holes with a 3-over 75, but reverted back to red numbers the following day, carding a 2-under 70 for a three-round score of 1-under 215, just six strokes back of teammate and tournament winner Kyle Souza. Thanks to Frazzetta’s seventh place finish, Chico State beat Colorado-Colorado Springs by one shot to capture the tournament title.
Frazzetta and Chico State returns to action Oct. 17-18, hosting the Lindsay Olive Wildcat Classic at Sevillano Links in Corning.
