Aimee Rodgers could very well be someone that U.S. Postal Service talent scouts are on the lookout for, because as she proved Saturday at the Hornet Invitational, neither rain nor wind nor gloom of day stays this track and field athlete from the swift completion of her appointed events. Despite cold, wet conditions at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium, Rodgers posted a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles and delivered a solid third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Her efforts have earned the sophomore standout a resounding stamp of approval as Wildcat of the Week.
Rodgers came in second in the 100-meter hurdes with a PR of 14.47 seconds – even though her performance was two-hundredths of a second short of an NCAA provisional bid, it was the fifth-fastest time in Chico State history. She clocked in at 1:11.68 on the way to a third place showing in the 400-meter hurdles, trailing only Wildcat teammate Kelly Clancey and Sacramento State’s Nicole Jackson.
In four 100-meter hurdle races this season, Rodgers has netted two first place and one second place finish, while in the 400-meter hurdles the Oakley native has not finished lower than fifth place.
