Sean Park has definitely made an impact in his freshman season for the Chico State men’s basketball team. Coming off the bench, the Santa Barbara native has delivered double-figure scoring performances in six of the Wildcats’ first 10 games this season, and last Friday against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Park turned in his finest collegiate performance, pouring in a team-high 23 points while also grabbing nine rebounds against the 15th-ranked Toros. The career-best efforts have earned the Chico State “super sub” Wildcat of the Week honors.

Park began the week by scoring five points and contributing a rebound and assist Dec. 30 against Cal State L.A., but against Cal State Dominguez Hills the following afternoon, he provided the Wildcats with over a third of their offense – in just 28 minutes of action, Park connected on eight of 17 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, with six of his nine boards coming on the offensive end. Park’s 23 points were the most scored by a Chico State freshman in a game since Justin Argenal struck for 24 against Sonoma State on Feb. 25, 2006.

Park currently is third on the Wildcats’ in scoring, averaging 11.3 points a game, and is shooting nearly 48 percent from the field. He has converted a team-high 38 free throws on the season.
