There were several outstanding performances by Chico State track & field athletes during last weekend’s Chico Twilight Distance Carnival, with six NCAA provisional marks attained, numerous first place finishes and a handful of personal records established. But one athlete – sprinter Nicole Cooper – packed several successes into Saturday’s competition at University Stadium, earning her this week’s Wildcat of the Week award.
Cooper, a freshman from San Bernardino, was electrifying in her three sprint events, winning the 100-meter (12.44) and 200-meter dash (25.51) and teaming with Aimee Rodgers, Lindsey Witteman and Michelle Burley to take top honors in the 4x100 relay (49.41). Her time is the 100-meter dash is the ninth fastest in Chico State women’s track history.
The Chico State women’s track and field team is back in action this Friday and Saturday, competing in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut and the Woody Wilson Invitational in Davis.
