The Stanislaus State baseball team may have left Nettleton Stadium with a series split, but the Warriors simply had no answer for Jacob Jablonski. The Wildcats’ shortstop found his way on base the entire four-game set, and his exploits on offense were key to the ’Cats rebounding from a series-opening doubleheader loss to sweep the following day’s twin bill and give Chico State its first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) conference wins. Jablonski’s outstanding work at the plate make him the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Jablonski registered multiple hits in all four games while batting .563 (9-for-16) overall, reaching base 12 times (a .632 on-base percentage) and driving in three runs to help Chico State improve to 7-6 on the season and 2-2 in CCAA play. In Friday’s series-opening doubleheader, Jablonski collected four hits and an RBI to lead the Wildcats’ offense, then followed up with five hits in Saturday’s twin bill, doubling twice and knocking in two runs as Chico State won by scores of 7-1 and 6-4.
Â
Jablonski is currently batting .440 on the season—fourth in the CCAA—and ranks among the conference’s top 10 hitters in hits (22), home runs (3), slugging percentage (.700), and on-base percentage (.541).
Â
Jablonski and the Wildcats are back in action this weekend, as Chico State travels to the Bay Area to take on San Francisco State. The four-game set, weather permitting, is scheduled to begin with a single game Friday, followed by a Saturday doubleheader and a single game series finale on Sunday.
