"His leadership and passion have influenced thousands and made us all better." – Prescott "Puck" Smith
"He was an amazing 'Cat, exactly the kind of person you want representing your University." – Sam Simmons
Though he retired in 1976 after more than 30 years of legendary service to Chico State, Mackay "Mac" Martin is still a name that inspires many and exemplifies what it truly means to be a Wildcat.
Martin led with selflessness, integrity and excellence. With the creation of the Mac Martin Award, the Chico State Athletics Hall of Fame Committee aspires to seek out others who have followed suit.
Thanks in no small part to the contributions of Mac Martin, we are all proud to be Wildcats. This award creates a forum to honor other Wildcats we are proud to call our own. The award will be presented at the Chico State Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, beginning in 2015.
The Mac Martin Award is given to a former Chico State student-athlete who has distinguished his/herself in their post-collegiate career by bringing distinction to the University, community and their vocation, in a similar manner that Mac Martin did.
