| By:
AZUSA, Calif. — The Chico State men's track & field team made one final attempt to improve NCAA provisional marks at Azusa Pacific's Franson Last Chance Meet, turning in several strong performances highlighted by distance standout Damian Garcia.

Garcia led the way with a pair of elite efforts, beginning with a second-place finish in the 800 meters (1:48.23), the top NCAA Division II performance in the race. He followed with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 meters, clocking 3:35.61 — a mark that now stands as the fastest time in NCAA Division II this season.

Alex Lamoureux also made a move in the 1,500, finishing 22nd in 3:45.86 to secure an NCAA provisional mark. His time ranks among the top 40 in the nation.

Chico State's sprinters also delivered multiple qualifying efforts. Brody Staley placed fourth in the 200 meters in 20.98, while Trey Suffredini finished ninth in the 400 meters in 47.23. Both marks met NCAA provisional standards, adding to times they previously established at the CCAA Championships.

The Wildcats capped the meet with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay, as Logan Cole, Harrison Hubbard, Staley, and Suffredini combined to run 3:08.92. The time improved Chico State's provisional mark and now ranks among the top 15 in NCAA Division II this season.

In the distance events, Adrian Hipolito paced Chico State in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing fifth in 9:02.95. He was the top Division II finisher in the race and improved his standing to 30th nationally. Joseph DePascale (9:18.50) and Anders Beil (9:46.19) also competed.

Elsewhere, Jesus Villarreal (30:42.59) and Matthew Gordon (30:52.13) ran in the 10,000 meters, while Xander Schulte-Sasse posted a time of 14:46.85 in the 5,000 meters. Jacob Camacho added a 1:53.68 effort in the 800.

The NCAA will announce selections for the Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Tuesday. The national meet is scheduled for May 21–23 in Emporia, Kansas.
