SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Chico State's women's track & field team delivered a well-rounded performance across multiple events on Friday at the CCAA Championships, highlighted by scoring efforts in the distance events, hurdles, and field competitions.
Chico State sits at second on the team leaderboard with 96.5 points, behind Cal Poly Pomona who holds a twelve point lead with 108.5 points.
The Wildcats were led in the 3000-meter steeplechase by Olivia Beschorner, who placed second with a time of 10:44.48. Zoe Aitken added a fourth-place finish in 10:58.46, giving Chico State a strong presence in the distance event and valuable team points.
In the 100-meter hurdles prelims, Chico State advanced three athletes to the final. Kylie Davis led the group with a time of 14.34, followed by Yanise Harris (14.40) and Jordin McDowell (14.58), positioning the Wildcats for multiple scoring opportunities.
Teresa Vasconcellos highlighted the sprints with a qualifying performance in the 200 meters, running 24.29 to secure a spot in the final.
In the 800 meters, Sienna Bianchi advanced to the final with a time of 2:15.32, continuing Chico State's depth in the middle-distance events.
Chico State also posted solid results in the field events. In the hammer throw, Sage Coyle recorded a fourth-place finish with a mark of 46.60 meters.
In the high jump, freshman Laila Florvilus cleared 1.58 meters to place third and add more points to the board. Florvilus took part in her first CCAA Championship heptathlon, finishing fourth with 4038 points accomplished with a top finish in the high jump and a second place finish in the 100m hurdles.
Talynn Schroeder was the highest Wildcat on the Chico State heptathlon podium, finishing with 4128 points, Annabelle Low finished her senior season with a fifth place finish with 3781 points and Bella Morales rounded out the 'Cats with 3526 points in sixth.
Kylie Davis returned in the triple jump to finish 12th with a mark of 10.86 meters, contributing to Chico State's efforts across multiple field disciplines.
With performances spanning distance, hurdles, sprints, and field events, Chico State showcased its depth and versatility as the championships continued. The Wildcats will close out the CCAA Championships in San Marcos tomorrow, with the women's javelin at 10:30 a.m. kicking off the day of events.
