A Busy Weekend Across the State Results in Big Performances

The Chico State women's track & field squad continue to prepare for the upcoming 2026 CCAA Championships, taking part in their usual trip to Southern California to take part in a quad of meets across the region. A group of Wildcats took the shorter trip to Yuba City for the Yuba College Last Chance, hoping to get a few more reps in before the trip to San Marcos. 

Splitting amongst five different meets; Yuba College Last Chance, Pacific Coast Invite, Beach Invite, La Verne Leopard Invite and the Bryan Clay Invitational. These meets allow the Wildcats to compete against some of the best competitors across all divisions and levels of the sport, giving the 'Cats a chance to see how they stack up against others from outside of the west region and beyond. 

Here's a breakdown of the results from the weekend across the state for the Wildcats:
 

        Pacific Coast Invitational

  • Tianna Thompson (12.16) and Madi Monroe (12.25) led Chico in the 100m.
  • Crystal Rosales ran 24.36 in the 200m, with Thompson adding a new personal best of 24.99.
  • Teresa Vasconcellos (56.08) and Emma Gaddy (56.56) led the 400m group, with Destin Armstrong at 58.30. Vasconcellos clocked a new personal best with a top-twenty finish. 
  • Kylie Davis (14.38), Yanise Harris (14.55), and Jordin McDowell (14.70) highlighted the 100m hurdles.
  • Savannah Sawyer led the 400m hurdles (1:04.04), followed by Mia Beltran and Alexa Lawson.
  • The 4x100 relay ran 46.63, while the 4x400 placed 3rd in 3:47.24.
  • Allie Goetz cleared 1.53m in the high jump.
  • The pole vault group was led by Janey Rubio (3.61m), with multiple Wildcats clearing 3.30m+.
  • Kylie Davis added marks in the long jump (5.14m) and triple jump (11.25m).
  • Saryah Harris-Davis threw 11.10m in shot put. 

        ULV Leopard Invitational

  • Madison Decker ran 4:40.61 in the 1500m.
  • Isabel Rosales led the 5000m group with a 17:13.30, followed by Jasmine Fletcher (17:29.06) and April Anguiano (17:40.71).
  • Zoe Aitken (11:00.63) and Katelyn Espino (11:31.98) competed in the 3000m steeplechase. 

        Beach Invitational

  • Madi Monroe (12.23) and Tianna Thompson (12.28) competed in the 100m open, while Teresa Vasconcellos ran 12.06 in the invite section.
  • Emma Gaddy led the 400m (56.13), with Crystal Rosales at 57.31, and Destin Armstrong winning the open section (57.71). 
  • Kylie Davis (14.18), Yanise Harris (14.30), and Jordin McDowell (14.42) led the hurdles group.
  • Savannah Sawyer ran 1:03.38 in the 400m hurdles, followed by Mia Beltran and Alexa Lawson.
  • The 4x100 relay ran 46.59, and the 4x400 finished in 3:48.05.
  • Allie Goetz cleared 1.56m in the high jump.
  • The pole vault group was led by Janey Rubio (3.77m), with Lauren Roznovsky and Charlie Ham also clearing key heights.
  • Saryah Harris-Davis led the throws with 11.32m in shot put and 37.37m in discus.
  • Sage Coyle threw 49.91m in the hammer. 

    Bryan Clay Invitational 

  • Catherine McGuire (2:14.61), Kaya Scuba (2:15.93), and Sidney Garcia (2:20.34) competed in the 800m.
  • Iresh Molina ran 4:28.50 in the 1500m (NCAA DII Provisional Mark), with Catherine McGuire adding a 4:34.81.
  • Sienna Bianchi improved her NCAA DII provisional mark in the 1500m with a 4:27.47.
  • Megan Malloy ran 16:59.75 in the 5000m.
  • Della Molina (16:16.87) and Iresh Molina (16:16.90) finished second and third in their heat for the 5000m. The twins from Chico remain in the top ten nationally in the event, two seconds behind the Chico State school record.
  • Paulina Martins ran a 34:55.41 in the 10,000m (NCAA DII Provisional Mark), with Kira Forsberg at 35:17.00 (NCAA DII Provisional Mark). Both freshman ranking in the top-thirty in the event nationally.
  • Olivia Beschorner recorded 10:45.95 in the 3000m steeplechase.

         Yuba College Last Chance

  • Laila Florvilus took home the top spot in the 100m hurdles event with a 14.91. Bella Morales finished third in the event with a 17.50. 
  • The women's 4x400m relay squad of Bella Morales, Annabelle Low, Talynn Schroeder and Laila Florvilus finished first with a time of 4:12.01.
  • Junior Daeja Downing finished with a second place finish in the javelin with a mark of 35.15m.
  • Hannah Spears took third in the triple jump with a 9.85m leap, teammate Taylan Flower finished fourth with a 9.77m result.
  • Florvilus notched a second top-finish with a 5.42m long jump performance, Talynn Schroeder finishing in second with a 5.12m mark. 
  • Dominating the jumps in Yuba, Florvilus finished with the best mark of 1.60m in the high jump, Schroeder finishing second wiith a 1.45m result and Carly Harriman in third with a clearance of 1.40m.
