CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State men's track & field team hosted the annual Wildcat Invitational Friday and Saturday at University Stadium, highlighted by several event victories, personal-best performances and strong showings across distance, sprints and field events.
Top Performances
– Brody Staley placed second in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, clocking 10.67 in the final after running a personal-best 10.66 in the preliminaries. He also finished second in the 200 meters in 21.21, a mark that would rank among the program's all-time top five performances.
– Damian Garcia captured the 800 meters in 1:52.89 to lead the Wildcats' middle-distance group.
– The distance squad delivered a dominant showing in the 1,500 meters, led by Mario Giannini's winning time of 3:50.77. Sergio Cuartas III finished second in his Chico State track debut in 3:53.81, while Sean Alliegro placed third with a personal-best 3:54.12. Alex Lamoureux (3:55.08, PB) and Adrian Hipolito (3:55.88, PB) also posted personal-best times.
– Anders Beil won the 5,000 meters in 15:20.09, and Joseph DePascale finished third with a personal-best 15:26.70.
– Lavell Cross won the 110-meter hurdles in a personal-best 15.28, while Lucas Curry placed third in 15.66.
– Chico State's 'A' 4x400-meter relay team of Harrison Hubbard, Logan Cole, Trey Suffredini and Staley captured the event in 3:15.14. The Wildcats also placed third in the 4x100 relay with the team of Staley, Suffredini, Cole and Erik Lerner (42.01).
– In the jumps, Miguel Long won the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 13.81 meters, while Statler Swanson and Nehemiah Holiday tied for third at 13.39 meters. Jeffrey O'Brien added a personal-best leap of 6.61 meters to place second in the long jump.
– Niko Lawrence cleared 2.00 meters to finish second in the high jump, and Nathan Hernandez placed second in the pole vault at 4.32 meters.
– Tyler St. Laurent led the throws group with a victory in the hammer throw at 52.10 meters, followed by Tad Desembrana in second (51.52m) and Sean Artist in third (49.34m).
– In the discus, Beau Gleeson finished second at 42.85 meters and Alejandro Molina placed third at 42.61 meters, while Travis Allen added a fourth-place finish at 41.00 meters.
– Jorge Barajas placed second in the shot put with a mark of 15.65 meters, and Abraham Schykerynec finished fourth at 14.45 meters.
– Brady Giles finished third in the javelin with a throw of 50.33 meters, while Freddy Southworth recorded a personal-best 50.28 meters.
