Gutierrez, Padrnos Lead Wildcats in Twinbill Split

POMONA, Calif. – Chico State and Cal Poly Pomona split Saturday's 9/7-inning CCAA doubleheader at Scolinos Field, as the Wildcats claimed the opener 2–1 before the Broncos responded with a 4–0 victory in the nightcap.

Following the doubleheader split, Chico State improves to 14–11 overall and 3–4 in the CCAA. Cal Poly Pomona improves to 14–7 overall and 6–1 in conference play.

Wildcat Standouts
Joel Gutierrez – Went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in game one, accounting for both Wildcat runs.
Dane Padrnos – Struck out six over the final two innings of the opener to earn the save.
Jaylen Hodges – Collected two hits in the nightcap.

Game 1 Highlights
– Chico State struck first in the second inning when Joel Gutierrez lined an RBI single down the right-field line to score Cole Nachreiner.
– Cal Poly Pomona tied the game in the fourth on Bryan Richman's bases-loaded walk.
– Gutierrez delivered again in the sixth inning with an RBI single to left that brought home Nachreiner and put the Wildcats back in front.
– Nathan Hikes tossed three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.
– Dane Padrnos dominated the final two innings, striking out six Broncos to secure the victory.

Game 2 Highlights
– Cal Poly Pomona broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Jack Sanders doubled home Daniel Ruiz.
– The Broncos added two more runs in the frame on Bryan Richman's two-run double to right center.
– An unearned run in the sixth extended the lead to 4–0.
– Anthony Vasquez tossed a complete-game shutout, holding Chico State to seven hits while striking out four.
