Parry, Peterson Help Wildcats Hold Off Cougars in 59–55 Home Victory

CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State women's basketball team had a back-and-forth battle but held on to beat Cal State San Marcos 59–55 in CCAA action at Acker Gym Thursday night.

The win improves the Chico State 19–8 overall and 15–6 in the CCAA with one game remaining in the regular season. Despite the win, Cal Poly Humboldt was able to beat Cal State Monterey Bay in Arcata to secure the No. 3 seed to the upcoming CCAA Tournament next week and force Chico State to take the No. 4 seed. The five and six seeds remain up for grabs as four teams - Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay will play it out on Saturday to keep their season going. The CCAA will officially announce the seedings as soon as the final game is completed. As the No. 4 seed, the Wildcats will play in the quarterfinal Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Cal Poly Pomona's Kellogg Arena.

– Chico jumped out to a 15–11 lead after one, led 30–27 at halftime and carried a 44–41 advantage into the fourth.
– The Cougars cut the margin in the fourth and made a late surge, but Chico answered at the line down the stretch to secure the four-point victory.
– Key free throws in the final minute by Madison Parry helped the Wildcats ice the 59–55 decision.
